The Electoral Commission of Ghana has announced that electorates of the Buem constituency in the Oti Region will only participate in the presidential and not in the parliamentary election.
According to a statement issued by the Commission, this is due to the creation of the Guan district local government (Guan District Assembly) (Establishment) Instrument, 2020 and pending the creation of the Guan constituency.
“Voters in the Guan District are to take note of this Directive front the Electoral Commission,” the statement read.
All appears to be set for the polls with valid registered Ghanaian voters expected to go to the polls to elect the occupant of the Jubilee House, the seat of government for the next four years.
Polls will open from 7 am to 5 pm in 38,622 polling stations in all the 275 constituencies nationwide.
The record of 12 persons contesting for the presidential slot in Election 2020 will go down in Ghana’s electoral history as the biggest slate of candidates since the country began the practice of democracy.
The candidate who secures 50 per cent plus one eligible vote in the Presidential contest will be the eighth President of the Fourth Republic.
