05 Feb Ghana Election Petition: Court officer sent to Rojo Mettle –Nunoo Home before he testifies

Ghana’s Supreme court has sent a judicial officer to be in the company of Mr Rojo Mettle-Nunoo, the third witness for the petitioner.
According to Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata, the lead counsel for John Mahama, Mr. Mettle –Nunoo will be appearing remotely because of his health condition.
In a rebuttal, Akoto Ampaw who is the lead counsel of the second respondent, President Akufo-Addo argued that they don’t want the witness to be coached or prompted by another person.
“My Lords my first concern is whether we have a judicial officer where the witness will be testifying from so that we are certain there is nobody prompting him when questions are asked because this is very important in our view,” he said.
One of the judges on the panel objected to Mr Ampaw’s request, but Mr. Ampaw insisted it is a major concern for them as an officer should be dispatched to Mettle- Nunoo’s location.
The Court granted the request after lead counsel for the Petitioner said it will take 25 minutes for the court officer to arrive at Mr Mettle- Nunoo location
