04 Dec Ghana elections 2020: Journalist accuses the government of intimidation

A former Journalist of Starr Fm a subsidiary of Excellent In Broadcasting network, a media conglomerate in Ghana, Nana Kobina Welsing has accused President Akuffo Addo and his New Patriotic Party (NPP) for intimidating and sabotaging the media firm.
The Journalist attribute this accusation to sudden power cut of the media house from air anytime the media house make an attempt to interview the opposition leader John Mahama and his running mate Professor Jane Naana Opoku Aggyemang on their outfit.
Expressing his grievances on social media, the Journalist posted on his Facebook page “I have worked in the media since 2008 during the latter part of Kuffour’s presidency through this government but the level of intimidation and vindictiveness against the media and intolerance to opposing views is on a scale I have never experienced. I cringe anytime I think that we are likely to continue this way for another four years. God help us”
According to Welsing on Thursday December 3, 2020, Starr FM advertised an interview with On-leave Auditor General Daniel Domelevo which was also to be aired by sister station GHONE TV but suddenly Friday morning the television station went OFF. Followed by a sudden phone call from the Domelevo that the interview is cancelled because there is pressure from above and that his life is in danger because of the interview.
The station was back on air right after Domelevo called to cancel the interview he said.
Another station of EIB Network, Abusua FM was also taken off air twice a month a ago after they have scheduled an interview John Mahama and his running mate respectively.
From the aforementioned allegations levelled against the government, a question was raised by Welsing as to the reason why the government will employ what he decribes as daibolic tactics to maneuver to stem dissent opposing views if the if of firm believe that it has performed.
EIB network is a media conglomerate is owned by Former Finance Minister of Ghana Kwabena Duffour under the John Mahama Led Administration from 2009 to 2013.
It is made up of Starr FM, Kasapa FM, Ultimate Radio, Agoo FM, Abusua FM, Live FM, Kasapa FM, Empire FM, GHONE TV and Agoo TV.
