24 Nov Jean Mensah: Accusations against me are false and baseless
By Enoch Adjei,
The chairperson of Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC) Mrs Jean Mensah has rejected accusations that the commission’s prime agenda is to work in favour of the government, New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming General Elections.
The commission has come under numerous criticisms from various political parties especially the largest opposition party, National Democratic Congress (NDC) in relation to its neutrality as far as the December 7 polls is concerned.
She has been accused of being in bed with the government to propagate it’s agenda.
Reacting to the accusations at Accra in a training for the media, Mrs Jean Mensah said the accusations are false and baseless.
“If I’ve been in bed with government I’m sure I would have had two children by now because it’s been two years. But I think transparency, transparency, transparency, that is why we try our best to open up and therefore even if the President was your uncle or father there’s absolutely nothing you can do.”
She further stated that the commission has involved all political parties and stakeholders in all the electoral processes to ensure transparency.
